about3The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer advocacy organization, with more than 1 million members throughout the country. HRC is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity, to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. HRC also creates educational resources and outreach programs for corporate America as well as for all members of the general population who are committed to fairness and equality.

Founded in 1980, HRC effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support to candidates for federal office and works to educate the public on a wide array of topics affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, including workplace, family and discrimination issues. HRC has established one of the most respected public policy and field operations among Washington-based advocacy organizations and the mainstream civil rights community.

The Human Rights Campaign envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are ensured equality and embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.

HRC San Diego’s Annual Gala, one of the seasons must-attend events, begins with over 500 donors and guests browsing table after table of enticing items, placing bids and getting into “bidding wars” to win coveted prizes during the Gala Silent Auction. Featuring a cocktail reception, an extensive silent auction, an elegant dinner, live entertainment, and inspirational speakers and guests, the HRC San Diego Gala Dinner attracts the area’s top figures in business, entertainment and politics.

An exciting way to get your business involved in our gala is to become a sponsor. By becoming a sponsor of the HRC San Diego Gala, you can support the Human Rights Campaign in 2017 and join the ranks of top San Diego-based companies.

Domestic partner benefits and non-discriminatory policies are increasingly important to potential and current employees, both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ, when making career decisions in the San Diego market.

HRC helps pass legislation that promotes equality in the workplace, and employer support of HRC will demonstrate a parallel commitment to equality. By supporting HRC and valuing diversity, you have the advantage of enticing the most qualified candidates to your company by offering them the best total employment package.

The LGBTQ consumer segment is growing every day. Supporting HRC positions your brand in front of this sophisticated and committed group of people, showing that you support their community and their values. In addition, your support gives you a positive and powerful advertising and public relations tool. Brand loyalty is a proven aspect of the LGBTQ community, especially with companies that show their support. The San Diego area has a large and diverse group of LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly publications as well as other advertising venues.

We hope you will consider joining us by sponsoring our 6th Annual Gala Dinner & Auction. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this year’s gala, please contact:

As the official recruiters and promoters for the dinner, we partner with our Table Captains to help spread the word about the work of HRC in order to encourage friends, family and colleagues to purchase tickets to attend the gala dinner. Any individual, partners/couple, company, affinity group, or charity group can serve as a Table Captain.

Each table can seat a maximum of 10 guests. Contact us today to sign up to be a Table Captain, and start recruiting your friends, family, and colleagues to sit at your table!

In the past, most companies were fearful to openly address the specific needs of the LGBTQ community, including their own employees and customers. What would their straight customers think? How would their investors view it? Times have definitely changed.

Today, companies of all sizes demonstrate their understanding of the LGBTQ market and communicate that they can be good employers, community partners and financial underwriters. Now is the time to demonstrate that your organization can be a good partner and position your brand in front of this sophisticated and committed group of people. Additionally, your support gives you a positive and powerful advertising and public-relations tool that can help increase loyalty and sales to your company from this community.

It’s good business, and it’s good for business.

Many generous businesses and individuals from the San Diego area donate items that are auctioned off to raise money for HRC. Your name or company name will be prominently displayed along with your donated auction item(s). This is an exciting way to get involved in the HRC San Diego Gala Dinner and is a great way to show your support and generate interest in your product or service within the community.

There are hundreds of creative ways you can package and promote your products and services. Popular items for the silent auction include gift certificates, furniture, home furnishings, artwork, jewelry, personal care items, and apparel. Themed gift baskets add excitement to the evening. (For donated items valued at less than $100, we reserve the right to bundle several together into one gift basket to increase the interest and value).

For questions on donating an item to the silent auction, please contact:

Email: silentauction@hrcsandiego.org

The dinner program provides a great opportunity to present your advertising message and show your support to the hundreds of people in attendance. Purchasing a full-color ad in our program book is a great way to promote your business, offer a special coupon or rate available only to gala attendees, or send a special message to an award recipient or guest! We offer several options in ad sizes.

All ads must be submitted by Friday, July 21, 2017

For questions about placing an ad in our Program Book, please email programbook@hrcsandiego.org

Want to be a part of the action? There are plenty of ways you can help sail this ship. Depending on your area of interest or background, we offer a variety of opportunities on the Gala Planning Committee and to help on the day of the event.

Being on the Gala Planning Committee is a great way to offer a more invested commitment and help in the development process. There are several subcommittees that work to develop key aspects of the dinner – each one led by a team of talented co-chairs. We have positions available in:

Corporate Sponsorship

Table Captain Management

Silent Auction

Program Book Ad Sales

Marketing/Promotions/Public Relations

Social Media

Volunteer Management

Day of the Event Volunteers are the engine that makes this event possible. “Day Of” volunteers work primarily on the day of the event at the hotel venue and assist with various duties, such as: set up of the silent auction room, registration, and ushering. Responsibilities will vary depending on the need. From set up to break down, “Day Of” volunteers do a little of everything. This is a great role for first-time volunteers who would like to contribute but aren’t sure what they would like to do. No experience is necessary and all are welcome! It’s easy, and fun!

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Co-Chair at volunteer@hrcsandiego.org
